To keep your juniors engaged, they need to know that other young people share their passion for the sport. Tournaments and competitions are the most effective way of demonstrating this, but there are currently far too few junior competitions around. However, these are potential options:
County leagues, if your county runs them. If not, volunteer to get at least a junior-only one going!
Standard competitions that accommodate shorter-than-normal distances.
The EMAS Junior InterCounties (Sydney Bond) – your county has a selector
Junior National Championships. While these sound intimidating, they are fun, inclusive and very far from being only for the best archers. The Indoor Champs can be loud and a bit of a squeeze, but the Outdoor Champs at Lilleshall should be on every junior archer’s calendar
