It is important to recognise that not every young person is equally a candidate for recruitment to archery. The sporty kids will already be busy with football, rugby, hockey, cricket, netball, swimming etc. – which is not to say these youngsters won’t be interested, but rather that time pressure may not allow archery into their lives right now.
That said, almost all potential new junior archers and their parents/guardians can be reached through school, social media, leisure centres, youth groups such as scouts, military cadets, religious community centres and supermarket notice boards.
EMAS is producing leaflets, social media videos and posters to assist recruitment. Clubs should make strenuous efforts to ensure they can welcome and support any juniors who may take up the offer of engagement in the sport.
